Medway Sciences
Professor John Mitchell is Head of Medway Sciences: "This Department is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in the areas of pre-formulation and formulation science. We have strong industrial collaborations with companies ranging from local small and medium enterprises, to international and global companies. Our core research is primarily related to pharmaceutical and consumer health care.
An example of our collaborations is a post-doctoral scheme with Pfizer. This scheme involves ten post-doctoral research fellows who are employed by Medway Sciences through the University of Greenwich but are working in Pfizer’s research and development laboratories at Sandwich, Kent.
Medway Sciences staff are often invited to present plenary and keynote lectures at scientific seminars and national and international conferences. They are on the editorial boards of scientific journals such as Langmuir, one of the most prestigious publications on nanoscience. They have also organised a number of national and international conferences, as well as Continuing Professional Development courses for the pharmaceutical industry.
