Profile:

Dr Allgrove obtained her BSc (Hons) in Physiology from the University of Bristol. She then went onto study for her MSc and PhD in Exercise Physiology at Loughborough University where she worked in the area of Exercise and Immunology with Professor Mike Gleeson (2004-2007). After carrying out a brief post working as a Research Assistant at Loughborough, she joined the School of Science, University of Greenwich in October 2007 where she is pursuing her own research interests in Exercise Immunology and Nutrition, and developing methods for the detection and quantification of salivary biomarkers using mass spectrometry for clinical and biopharmaceutical significance. In addition to her research and teaching activities, Judith is involved in providing scientific support to a variety of organisations including British Swimming, England Rugby and Professional Football Clubs.

Research Interests

  • Exercise-induced stress and immune function
  • Influence of nutritional interventions on the immunoendocrine responses to exercise
  • Exercise in spinal cord injury athletes
  • Mass spectrometry (LC-MS, MALDI-TOF, ICP-MS)
  • Salivary biomarkers

Dr Allgrove welcomes enquiries from potential collaborators regarding these and future projects.
