Profile

Paul obtained his BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science from the University of Bradford in 1997.  He joined Bart and the London NHS Trust as a trainee Biomedical Scientist in Haematology and Blood Transfusion in the autumn of 1997, qualifying as a registered Biomedical Scientist in 1999.  Following on from this he completed an MSc in Haematology (Blood transfusion) at the University of Westminster in 2001.  During his MSc he specialised in Stem Cell and Bone Marrow processing progressing to management level in 2002.  Whilst managing the Stem Cell and Bone Marrow processing facility he managed the development of a fully GMP compliant facility that met the MHRA requirements for processing of human materials for therapeutic purposes.

In 2004, he joined North East Surrey College of Technology (NESCOT) as a lecturer in Haematology and Blood transfusion, lecturer to all levels, both undergraduate and postgraduate.

In 2005 he joined the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust as a Senior Biomedical Scientist in Blood Transfusion.  Whilst in this post he continued to pursue his academic interest, working as a visiting lecturer for the MSc Programmes at NESCOT.

In 2006 he joined the University of Greenwich as a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Science.  Subsequently he has taken over the Programme Leadership of undergraduate programme, BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science.  He was also appointed as the Undergraduate Induction Co-ordinator for the School of Science.  Paul has recently begun a PhD researching entitled “the characterisation of a novel RNAi delivery system”.

Paul continues to be registered with the HPC and is a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science.
