Overview

Overview

We were the first UK university to offer a specialist degree in marketing communications and we have continued to develop our portfolio. We have recently redesigned this degree in collaboration with employers and marketing professional bodies, allowing us to keep up to date with digital trends.

You will develop your skills in identifying trends and understanding consumer behaviour, as well as your language skills in either French, Italian or Spanish. This combination will make you stand out and excel in the global advertising industry.

You will learn how to analyse target audiences and implement integrated marketing communications campaigns. By collaborating with your fellow students on real marketing problems, you will gain valuable experience of working in teams.

Our courses will provide you with the principles and practice of marketing, as well as specialised knowledge in areas such as customer insight and research, strategic brand management, and digital, interactive, direct and social marketing. Preparing you for a career in the global advertising industry.

Employability

You will have the option to undertake a work placement in your third year, providing insight and practical skills which employers seek in graduates.

Students on this programme usually gain the Chartered Institute of Marketing's (CIM) Certificate in Professional Marketing on graduation, boosting their careers. You will have the opportunity to gain exemptions from Market Research Society and Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing examinations, gaining professional recognition early in your career.

Experience abroad

You can also participate in the Erasmus+ international exchange programme. This will help improve your language skills and give you experience of living and working in another country. The Erasmus+ Scheme provides a grant towards the cost of studying abroad for a year.

Extracurricular activities

Our Greenwich Employability Passport scheme recognises and rewards your participation in additional activities such as part-time work, volunteering, student societies or industry guest lectures.

The student Marketing Society has over 100 members. The Society combines a mixture of academic and social activities. It's a great chance to hear about the industry from experts, previous speakers include IBM and Mediacom. A great way for you to create business contacts.

Our marketing students achieved first place in the latest national marketing competition organised by the Institute of Direct Marketing.

We are proud to say that our marketing programmes are ranked among the top five for student satisfaction and second overall in London by the Complete University Guide 2017 league table.
