Aims

To enable trainees to:
• Develop an understanding of the role of the teacher in creating and sustaining a safe and inclusive learning environment
• Appreciate a range of theories and models around the practice of communication
• Recognise key aspects of theories and principles of learning
• Recognise key aspects of theories and principles of inclusion
• Apply and evaluate theories and principles of learning to their own practice

Learning outcomes

On completing this course successfully, trainees will be able to:
• Analyse theories and principles of learning and communication and their application to inclusive learning and teaching
• Apply theories and principles of learning and communication to inclusive learning and teaching
• Evaluate own application of theories and principles of learning and communication to inclusive learning and teaching
• Describe key features of an inclusive learning environment and situate these within a historical context

Task 1:
Evaluation of principles of theories of learning in relation of trainees subject specialism (2000 words)

Task 2:
PDP Identify an action plan for your own professional development in relation to the understanding and application of theories of learning, managing behaviour and inclusion in the learning environment. (1000 words (nominal).

Students are required to pass all components in order to pass the course.
