Senior Lecturer, Teaching and Learning; Deputy Head of EDU

Dr Sally Alsford is a Senior Lecturer in Teaching and Learning and Deputy Head of the EDU. Prior to joining the EDU in 2000, she was a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. During her time in the School of Humanities, she was induction coordinator for the School and student experience and engagement has been a strong focus of her work with the EDU, including research on new arrivals, transition and retention; leadership of university-wide projects and working groups and development of policy.

In 2009 Sally set up the EDU Student Forum now developed into the Greenwich Graduate Student Network. This work aimed to enhance and explore student engagement as well as to raise student awareness and understanding of the Greenwich Graduate Initiative.

Sally is Programme Leader for the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education, and Admissions tutor and leads on expansion and delivery of the programme for international participants.

She works with academic teams across the university on curriculum design and delivery, including preparation for programme approval and review and on CPD activities related to teaching and learning, personal tutoring and Programme Leaders' support and development.

Sally co-leads student partnership activities in the EDU, including running the Greenwich Graduate Student Network, and works on strategic university initiatives such as the Student Engagement Framework.
