The David Fussey Choral Exhibition is a bursary which is awarded to a small number of members of the University Choir following a vocal audition.

The closing date for applications is 30 September each year

The David Fussey Choral Exhibition

The purpose of the scheme is to enhance the membership of the University Choir and to provide a financial incentive for a small number of students with talent in singing.

The exhibition is open to full-time, part-time, undergraduate, postgraduate and associate college students of the university who become members of the University Choir. Prospective students are also eligible to apply for the exhibition, subject to their being offered a place to study at the University of Greenwich.

The exhibition is worth £1,000 per year, for a maximum of three years. The exhibition is subject to renewal each year, based on the exhibitioner's successful participation each year. There are generally 8 David Fussey Choral Exhibitioners at any one time, with an average of 3 Exhibitions being awarded per year.

The choral exhibitioners are required to attend all rehearsals of the University Choir and to give full support to the music director. The exhibitioners also form a committee to take responsibility for part of the management of the choir.

David Fussey

The scheme was established in 2001 in memory of the University of Greenwich's late vice-chancellor, Dr David Fussey, who died in 2000. David Fussey gained great pleasure from singing in choirs, and encouraging others to do so.

Dr Roger Finney, Former Dean of Maritime Greenwich Faculty, said:

This is an especially fitting way for us to remember David. He had a great love of music, notably organ works and choral singing and was an Associate of the Royal College of Music. These exhibitions will help ensure that the music he loved is heard and enjoyed by the university community for many years to come.
