Nicholas Jenkins

Nicholas Jenkins is a conductor devoted to making great musical classics accessible to all. He specializes in choral music and opera, and has led many projects involving community participation, young people and children.

He studied at Merton College, Oxford, Trinity College of Music, and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He is Music Director to the University of Greenwich and Blackheath Halls Opera, and was recently Interim Chorus Master to Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam.

Nicholas has trained many choirs and choruses including Dutch National Opera Chorus, ENO Chorus, Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, Grange Park Opera Chorus, Choeur des Musiciens du Louvre-Grenoble, Netherlands Radio Choir, Opera Holland Park Chorus and Philharmonia Chorus. He has conducted numerous operas with companies including Opéra de Lyon, Théâtre de la Monnaie, Paris Opéra-Comique, Bregenz Festival, Théâtre Besançon, Blackheath Halls Opera, and New Sussex Opera, of whom he was Musical Director 2008-2015.

Projects during 2015-16 include conducting Mesdames de la Halle (Opéra de Lyon), Mignon (New Sussex Opera), and Carmen (Blackheath Halls). He is Chorus Master for Platée (Paris Opera), and Iris (Opera Holland Park); also Assistant Conductor for Armide (Vienna State Opera).
