Clearing hotlines take 1,300 calls in first four hoursMore than 1,300 calls from would-be students were handled by the University of Greenwich Clearing hotlines team in the first four hours after opening at 6am today (Thursday 18 August).

The university website attracted 7,000 page views during the same period. The Clearing experts worked with more than 300 course seekers on the website's Live Chat service, and engaged with 200 potential course applicants on Twitter using the hashtag #hellogreenwich.

The majority of calls were from school and college leavers who had just received their A-level results.
Sophi Marten, recruitment co-ordinator, says: "It has been a great start to Clearing. I am delighted that we have been able to offer places to many of our early callers.

"We are looking forward to helping more higher education hopefuls find the best degree courses to match their career ambitions as Clearing continues."
