Michael BhaskarCuration – described as "one of the most gripping business ideas for our time" – is the topic of a public seminar at the University of Greenwich later this month.

The art of selecting useful information to form meaningful collections, curation is a new buzzword for tech companies and media professionals.

The talk by Michael Bhaskar, a writer, researcher and digital publisher, takes place on Wednesday 30 November, with all welcome. Registration details are below.

"Curation is a far more powerful and deeply relevant idea than we give it credit for," he says. "It answers the question of how we make sense of a culture in which problems are often about having too much, and shows how we keep growing in a world of excess."

Michael will discuss latest thinking in economics, technology, business strategy, complexity theory, media and psychology, and will reveal how a little-used word from the world of museums became a crucial business strategy for the 21st century.

He is co-founder of Canelo, a new publishing company, and has written extensively about media, the creative industries and the economics of technology for a range of international titles. His new book, Curation: The Power of Selection in a World of Too Much, will be published by Little, Brown.

Run by the university's Business School, the popular Big Picture seminar series gives high-profile speakers a chance to share their expert insights. Subjects include entrepreneurship, leadership and management, the economy and the media. This event takes place at the Greenwich Campus from 5pm. Questions will follow the main talk.
