Hon GradStephen Davie, chartered accountant and Director of three Bluebird Care centres, is to receive an honorary award from the University of Greenwich today (Tuesday 18 July).

In a graduation ceremony at the Greenwich Campus, Stephen will receive the degree of Honorary Doctor of the University (HonDUniv) in recognition of the experience and expertise which he brings to the university.

Stephen has served the university as a Member of Court for almost nine years, becoming an integral member of the main decision-making body within the university, and for the past six and a half years as the Chairman of the Audit Committee. This award honours the commitment he has shown to the university.

Stephen has enjoyed a varied career across the financial sector as a chartered accountant and has also worked within retail, technology and communications.

He joined Price Waterhouse in 1976, working first in London, then moving to Chicago in 1983. After working his way up through Price Waterhouse, he was admitted to partnership with responsibility for client audit and business advisory services, becoming the Partner responsible for business generation and execution.

He has also worked as Group Finance Director and Acting Managing Director for Harrods Holdings Ltd.

In 2011, Stephen became a Bluebird Care franchisee and now runs three care services in Bromley, Lewisham & Southwark and Sevenoaks, Kent.
