About us GWizards

"I wanted to gather experience in the industry and improve my employability and learn new programming languages for web development." (final year GWizards student, BSc Hons Business Information Technologies)

The Department of Computing & Information Systems (CIS), has a long history of providing current, vocational undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the fields of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Information Technology and Creative Design Technologies.

We aim to develop graduates who are equipped with the skills required to become effective professionals within their chosen industry sector. In the current economic climate it is becoming increasingly difficult for students to find relevant work experience which will help them develop their practical and technical skills.

To this end, the GWizards initiative has been developed with two key aims:

1. To give our students the opportunity to gain relevant work experience by working on best-endeavour development projects with charities/social enterprises and not-for-profit organsiations.

2. To support the local community by offering very low cost (or in some cases, no cost) solutions to your IT or business problems.

All the projects undertaken by our students are supported by experienced staff from within CIS.

GWizards operates from offices in the Historic Royal Naval College at Greenwich and at Greenwich Digital Enterprise Centre (DEG) based at the Greenwich Peninsula.
