The Quality Officer from the Greenwich Learning and Teaching (GLT) will remind the Department/School when there is an external examiner vacancy to be filled.  Once a new programme is approved you should seek appointment of a suitable new examiner or one from the current appointments who will oversee the programme or modules.

Nominations for new examiners and changes of duty need to be approved by the relevant faculty committee with new appointments being endorsed by the University Learning, Quality and Standards Committee.    The GLT will send the External Examiner a welcome letter and a contract of employment.  The External Examiner needs to bring in their passport on their first visit to the University.  The Head of Department/School is responsible for ensuring that the examiner's identity is verified in accordance with the UK Visa and Immigration requirements for eligibility to work in the UK.

Timescale for submission

All new examiner appointment nominations should be submitted and agreed by Faculty Learning, Quality and Standards Committee and approved by University Learning Quality and Standards Committee by the 1st week of September.
