Unaiza Qayoom - Executive MBA

TLDRoffon

Unaiza found Greenwich to be a 'dynamic and multicultural place'.

How have you found the Greenwich MBA?

I'm surprised that this course is more intellectually stimulating than I thought it would be. I thought it would include a lot of books and reading, but we've had to do a lot of class activities.

We've been doing business simulations and we've had to critically analyse the main focuses of every assignment that we've done so far.  So, I personally have developed critical analysis skills. We're looking into research and different types of research methods, which again is very important at master's level.

So, I would say intellectually stimulating definitely, puts a lot of focus on critical analysis, makes you think and you're trying to develop your work. You're not just taking information, putting it on paper and submitting it, you're actually learning and developing.  I think it's very important for career development as well.

What skills has the MBA helped you to develop?

Other than analytical skills, obviously teamwork because we do a lot of group work. We work with different people on different projects and obviously you need to communicate well with them, you need to get your point across and you need to get everybody to work on the team to achieve results.

How have you found the university as a whole?

I think because it is such a dynamic and multicultural place, it's very different from my own experience of my previous university.

I do find it keeps you on your toes. There's always a great deal to do on campus as well as at the Student's Union – I've never experienced a dull moment here. It's challenging and stimulating at the same time, so I think the whole experience is immensely helpful.
