We’ve pledged to provide more healthy food options and reduce the amount of fizzy and high sugar drinks available and work towards healthy food standards

We've signed up to the Sugar Smart Greenwich campaign, which aims to help create places where we can all make healthier choices and stop the devastating harm caused by sugary food and drinks. We've pledged to:

  • Reduce the amount of fizzy and high sugar drinks available
  • Offer healthier options
  • Highlight benefits of drinking water
  • Provide greater healthy food options
  • Work towards healthy food standards

Sugar Smart is a campaign started by Jamie Oliver to increase the awareness of the dangers of eating too much sugar and to reduce its consumption in the UK. In the UK we're consuming two to three times the recommendedamount of sugar – for adults, this is no more than 30g per day, or the equivalent of 7 sugar cubes - which is leading to high rates of tooth decay, obesity and Type 2 Diabetes.

If you have any questions about Sugar Smart in the university then please contact Barry Palmer, or for more information on what you can do to reduce sugar see the Change4Life Sugar Smart site.
