The newly refurbished Students’ Union Village Shop has been open for two weeks now and it’s getting some rave reviews.

The transformation took a month, but what a difference a month makes.  The Village Shop has a new look and feel that's simple, clean and modern and makes better use of the space, and aims to have everything you need available to buy on campus.

Lisa Connellan, the Students' Union's Commercial Services Manager and her team worked with the National Union of Students (NUS) on the layout which meant they were able to incorporate learnings from the NUS' work with other Students' Unions.

Everything was considered. The existing fridges were coming to their end of life and so were replaced with newer, more sustainable models; those that contain our meal deals and grab and go items are in open fridges, but with sustainability – and a warmer working environment – in mind the other fridges have doors.

Every penny spent in the Village Shop goes toward enhancing the experience for students, so it's important to get how it looks and what it sells right, if you have suggestions on what the Village Shop should stock please get in touch with

From your feedback and from working with the NUS there's now more products than before, including:

  • A value range, with everything under a pound right by the door
  • A bespoke area for fruit and vegetables
  • More fresh and healthy products.
  • A mirror in the university merchandising section, so you can try before you buy.

University branded items

We've worked with the Students' Union to update the range of items available to buy and the new range can be bought at the Village Shop or in the Students' Union E-shop

As well as the ever popular clothing range, the E-shop is used by university departments to buy university branded items* which also maintains an income stream for the Students' Union.

If you're after a University of Greenwich hoodie, they're currently selling for just £20 (usually £25)

If you've not made it along to the new Village Shop yet, use the Facebook 360 above to have a look around.
