What a Welcome our 2018 fairs were

TLDRoffon

All of the fairs were busy, with over 10,000 students attending the fairs on each campus, which showcase everything the Greenwich Students' Union, GK Unions and our university offer.

This year was our most ambitious Welcome yet, and it's been a lot of fun.  It started with an Early Starters Welcome Fair at Avery Hill, then a Sports Day for International Students to try out some of our sports - see how they got on in the video below.

There was the Greenwich Students' Unions first ever Community Fair at Avery Hill where students living in halls or in the local area came along for a day of fun, food, music and games, bringing their families and friends along too.

The atmosphere at all of the fairs was brilliant and it was great to see so many student groups building new communities at meetups, socials and taster sessions.

If you didn't find the society or sports team you were looking for at the fairs, then you can join one at any time, take a look at the societies and sports clubs on the Greenwich Students' Union site.

There's been a few firsts too:

  • The Greenwich Students' Unions held their first ever Community Fair at Avery Hill where students living in halls or in the local area came along for a day of fun, food, music and games, bringing their families and friends along too.
  • There was also the first ever Volunteering and Part Time Jobs Fair which saw hundreds of students coming along to find out more about the opportunities on offer.
  • Our Chinese Students Association hosted their first meet and greet with 65 students attending.

But that's not all, over 150 students watched Mrs Doubtfire out on the lawns at Avery Hill campus and over 75 students joined us on a trip to Brighton, despite the rain and the GSU have supported over 30 induction talks chatting to over 2000 students about how to get the most out of their Students' Union and their time at university.
