Whether you want the capital city experience or a cosy community campus, we have accommodation that is right for you.

The University of Greenwich has so much to offer. It is little wonder that students from over 140 countries around the world come to study here.

We're one university, but we have three distinct campuses: Greenwich, Medway and Avery Hill.

There are 2,500 places in halls of residence on or near our campuses. When you receive and accept a place to study with us, and apply for a room by 26 August 2016, you are guaranteed accommodation.

We're proud to be able to offer the best of both worlds – from the capital city experience, to the student community campus feel.

Each of our outstanding campuses offers library and computer facilities, as well as a Student Centre – the access point for a variety of student services. Specialist services such as Student Finance, Health and Wellbeing; Employability and Careers Service and the International Student Advice Service are designed to support you from the day you start your studies to when you graduate and start your first job. Wherever you live, you'll have everything you need to enjoy your time with us.

Greenwich | Medway | Avery Hill

Our largest campus, Greenwich, is situated in the heart of an iconic World Heritage Site in south-east London. It is one of the grandest university settings in the world; the stunning Baroque architecture rivals that of Oxford and Cambridge.

Our magnificent buildings, including Christopher Wren's painted gallery - where thousands of our students graduate each year - are situated on the banks of the Thames, overlooking the financial district of Canary Wharf.

The energy you get when you come here is really inspiring.

- Rob Henderson, BA Hons Advertising and Marketing Communications student

These historic buildings are also home to modern facilities, the latest innovative resources in a brand new TV production studio, and a well-stocked library and modern art gallery in the new Stockwell Street building. Four halls of residence are within walking distance of the campus.

Sports facilities

There are many opportunities for sport and fitness activities on campus or nearby. Facilities at the Arches Leisure Centre include a gym, fitness classes, sauna and pool. Or you can take up rowing at the well-established Curlew Rowing Club linked to the university's boat club. Its new boathouse is adjacent to the campus. If you enjoy cycling, Greenwich Cyclists organises regular bike rides and events.

Things to do nearby

Greenwich itself, known the world over as the home of Greenwich Mean Time, is an exciting and vibrant place to live and to explore. There's bustling market, bars and restaurants, arts and culture and sports and fitness. And the O2 Arena just down the road.

The iconic sights of London and all it has to offer are all within easy reach: by bus, by train or even by walking through the 'secret' Greenwich Tunnel.

It's such a nice place to just go for a walk, go to the park and to the market, then walk along the river, then walk through the university, and this is all within about a square mile. I'm super happy living here.

Our Medway Campus is in Chatham Maritime, Kent, a county known as the Garden of England. The campus has easy access to the Kent coast and is an hour from central London.

Steeped in naval history, it is home to three universities (the other two are University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University). Around 10,000 students make up this campus community, and there is a joint student union. On-campus accommodation for University of Greenwich students comprises 350 rooms in five halls of residence.

There are multiple cafés and bars on campus, including the Pembroke, Pilkington and Coopers buildings. In front of the Drill Hall Library and the sports hall is an attractive piazza-style front area, with outdoor seating, plants, lighting and space for events. There is also plenty of green open space, with a tennis court on site.

New facilities

£4.6 million has been invested in the brand new purpose-built Student Hub shared by the universities of Greenwich and Kent at Medway. Once the site of a swimming pool and bowling alley, the listed building is being transformed to enhance the student experience by providing a new vibrant entertainment and social space and will be home to the joint students' union office.

Key features include a café/bar, catering facilities, and large, open-plan spaces for meetings and a mixture of social activities. There's even a quiet space for reading or working on laptops or tablets, plus a series of individual booths, a pool table and a mass of colourful bean bags and coffee tables. Special lighting will be added to make the new space welcoming by day and atmospheric by night.

Commuting to Medway

We have five halls of residence on campus, which have en-suite bedrooms in flats with shared kitchen facilities. Between 50% and 60% of our students live close to the campus and commute to university, taking advantage of our excellent train and bus connections, and on-campus parking.

A bus service for Rainham, Gillingham and Chatham runs through the campus, so if you live locally, or want to travel further afield, there are plenty of buses to get you to other parts of Medway and beyond.  Our working relationship with local bus company, Arriva, means students can get large discounts on many routes to the campus and surrounding areas.

It doesn't matter what campus you're on because it's a Greenwich family. We kind of all know each other.

The Medway Gym offers a variety of cardio-vascular and resistance equipment, while the sports hall provides facilities for football, volleyball, badminton, netball and table tennis.

The Strand Leisure Park in nearby Gillingham has a swimming pool, crazy golf, a three-par golf course and tennis courts. Avery Hill

Six miles from Greenwich or 30 minutes by intercampus bus, is also situated in south-east London, close to Eltham. Its Student Village accommodates over 1,200 students, who study at the Avery Hill and Greenwich Campuses. More than half of our residential students live at our Avery Hill site which creates a real buzz. You're sure to find like-minded people here, both from your programme and across the university.

In contrast to the city of London, our Avery Hill Campus is a truly green oasis with 86 acres of beautiful parkland for you to use. At its heart is the 90 foot Victorian Dome which shelters the Winter Gardens and stands proud on the skyline. You'll find the library – a former ballroom – within an elegant Victorian Mansion. Our new teaching centre houses an interactive lecture theatre and four new clinical labs, making it a first-class learning experience.

Everything you need is in one place.

It has all the amenities you need and lovely parks. My favourite place is the library – it's beautiful.

Sports facilities

The David Fussey Building includes a sports hall with courts and equipment for a range of indoor sports, including five-a-side football, basketball, badminton, netball and volleyball. Outdoor facilities include football pitches and netball and tennis courts. Local cricket, basketball and netball teams also use the facilities throughout the year. The new sports centre is now one of the best equipped in the UK.

You can join the Dome Gym or the local authority-run Eltham Health and Fitness Centre, which is nearby. Sutcliffe Park Athletics Track, an all-weather pavilion, is local to the campus and incorporates a studio, indoor changing facilities and shower area. Coaching is available for all abilities.

Ideally situated, Avery Hill is a short bus ride to everything London has to offer, or you can head to Bluewater, one of Europe's largest shopping centres.
