Helen Elliott is a Senior Lecturer for Health Visiting/School Nursing, and Children's Nursing in the Department of Family Care & Mental Health at the University of Greenwich.

Helen initially qualified as a Registered General Nurse working in a coronary care unit at Barnet General Hospital. She then specialised in sick children's nursing and her career progressed within this field. 

She has worked in a variety of general hospitals as a staff nurse, ward sister and ward manager over a number of years. She has managed the paediatric outpatient department at Kings College Hospital and worked for many years as a health visitor within the local community. Helen also managed the Newborn Hearing Screening programme for Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham and more recently, as a Placement Development Manager for South London Healthcare NHS Trust.

Helen completed her MSc Education in 2012 and PGCert Higher Education at the University of Greenwich in 2013. She is currently studying for a Doctorate degree in education (EdD) focusing on an aspect of domestic violence and abuse.

Helen joined the university in 2013 as a senior lecturer on the health visiting/school nursing, child branch, and paramedic programme. She is a Link tutor for pre-registration nurses undertaking health visitor and school nursing placements in Bexley. She is also course coordinator on the Health Visitor/School Nursing Leadership Development and Introduction to Children's Nursing.

She is lecturer on a range of modules including, child development, health visiting, school nursing practice and domestic violence.

Helen's main research interest is around the experience of newly qualified health visitors and their experiences of identifying women with children under the age of 5 years who have suffering domestic violence.
