In addition, she has a Masters degree in Education, specialising in Leadership and Management in Education. Now in her final year of a five-year Doctorate in Education, Poppy's thesis explores young girls' experiences of using social media, online interaction, and communication with others online in a 'third space', and how these interactions build up a social reality and impact upon identity formation.

She has worked in the education sector at a wide range of schools throughout London, both at Independent schools and state schools. Poppy has worked as a class teacher within both Key Stages, and with various coordinator and management roles, and has a wide range of interests in the National Curriculum. Key posts held include Head of Modern Foreign Languages, Head of Computing, Coordinator of PSHE and Citizenship, and Phase Leader of Year 3 and 4.

On the Editorial board of Primary Teacher Update Magazine, Poppy enjoys trialling and exploring innovate techniques and strategies in the primary classroom to keep students engaged, promote active learning, and help manage teacher workload.

Poppy is also a member of BELMAS, British Educational, Leadership, Management and Administration Society.

Poppy has a keen interest in identity and community, and the comparison between online and real-life identities we chose to create for ourselves, and the online communities we can exist in as a 'third space' between our home and school/work/academic lives. Poppy enjoys research into ethnomethodological practices such as Conversation Analysis, which helps to explore how our interactions with others are all part of a social reality we create for ourselves, showing we often aim to conform to unspoken cultural rules we impose on ourselves.
