The group pursue a number of research directions ranging from fundamental biological studies such as the investigation of membrane proteases and transporters and their importance in regulating comparable processes in different organisms through to more applied studies such as the use of algal and non-food plant systems for CO2 capture, biorefining and bioenergy, and the impact that climate change is having on aquatic ecosystems.
