Join us at the University of Greenwich for a powerful Refugee Week launch event! A range of inspiring speakers, and a special performance by Displaced and settled Ukrainian singers supported by the Royal Opera House

Keynote Speaker: Dr Nooralhaq Nasimi MBE

Former refugee who fled Afghanistan with his family, now campaigning for refugee rights in Europe and his home country. Founder of the Afghanistan and Central Asian Association and the European Campaign for Human Rights in Afghanistan.

Podcast Project presented by Dr Elena Vacchelli, associate professor in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Sciences. Research interests include migration, diversity, gender, and social inequality. Extensive experience in researching diversity and gender in the UK and Europe.

Priya-Rose Rodriguez, Greenwich alumna, provides valuable insights into the complexities and impact of migration on a global scale with her presentation "Migration: A Global Perspective."

Tania Sophie from Greenwich Borough of Sanctuary and Lewisham Refugee and Migrant Network presents "Sanctuary and the Hostile Environment."

Intergenerational view on forced migration with a Greenwich Alumna and Hannah Warsame, sharing perspectives on Palestine and Somalia.

Lada Kasynets, Ukrainian dancer and choreographer, introduces the workshop "Assertiveness through Dance."

Anuj Baral, President of the Greenwich Students' Union, talks about the STAR Network at the University of Greenwich.

Moses Seitler, Youth Advocacy Manager of Refugee Education UK, introduces their organization and their work with Greenwich.

7pm - Drinks and Networking: Opportunity to network while the Choir prepares for their performance.

7.20pm - Songs for Ukraine: Displaced and settled Ukrainian singers supported by the Royal Opera House, showcasing Ukrainian choral music and discussing the benefits of art programs for displaced communities.

7.50pm - Conclusion of the launch event, working towards a more inclusive and compassionate society. Thanking the audience and participants for being part of this inspiring evening. #RefugeeWeek #UnityInDiversity
