Remote Desktop

The Remote Desktop service allows access to a Managed Desktop interface from outside the university. All permitted standard software, such as Microsoft Office, as well as access to home area (G drive) and shared areas (S and U drives) are available.

This service provides users a method of accessing a Managed Desktop environment, when away from the office, from a Windows, Mac OS, iOS, Android device

The service is available to all members of university staff and certain groups of students

    09.00 - 17.00 weekdays other than University and Bank Holidays

Change Control:

Proprietary software patches released to the Remote Desktop service are tested prior to deployment.

Software applications available via the Remote Desktop service will be tested as part of the Managed Desktop service prior to deployment in this environment.

Changes will be advertised in the normal ways.

Service Dependencies:

Service depends on Data Network (Data #001); Managed Filestore (Core #002); Windows Service (Core #004); Computer Printing (MFD #001); IT Account Management (Core #006).

Service Metric:

How we measure and What we measure and where we measure (ie server was up and service was available at point of delivery. but network / external issue meant service wasn't available everywhere).
