eduroam Visitor Access IT and Library Services

Temporary accounts for eduroam

In addition to staff, students and researchers, the university receives many visitors every day, such as guest lecturers, contractors and conference delegates, who often require access to a Wi-Fi network.

eduroam Visitor Access (eVA) allows the university to create temporary eduroam accounts and assign them to visitors. This allows visitors access to the same safe and reliable Wi-Fi network as standard account holders.

Advantages for the visitor and the university

Visitors to the university are able to easily connect to a fast, secure and reliable network, while the university has accountability and control of the network via the eVA management tools.

More information

The eVA has been tested by institutions across Europe, and the university trialled the eduroam Vistor Access service for many months.
Every faculty and almost all directorates already have a trained approver, capable of creating accounts for their visitors.

The IT Service Desk also has ability to create accounts, in bulk, if required to do so for conferences.

The eVA management tool is quick and easy, and will email or text the account details straight to your visitor's inbox or mobile.

If you require Wi-Fi access for a visitor, please contact your faculty / directorate approver, or contact the IT Service Desk if you are unsure who to speak to.
