E-mail & Calendar (Outlook) IT and Library Services

Basic Description:

Staff are provided with access to University email, calendar, attachments and contacts.

    • The Outlook Web Access (OWA) service, https://owa.gre.ac.uk provides a means of connecting to the email account remotely using a web browser.

Our Responsibility:

User Services staff will install and configure Outlook on staff workstations and provide information and support regarding its use.

ILS will provide a mailbox account for each user and operate the underlying email system which allows users to send and receive email messages.

To provide anti-virus checking of incoming and outgoing mail.

To provide spam email filtering of incoming mail.

IT Service Desk staff will attempt to answer any query related to this service.  If they are unable to do so, or provide the customer with the information that they require, the matter will be referred to another member of staff with the relevant expertise or responsibility.

All calls to the IT Service Desk are logged and the customer will be given an incident reference number to assist in tracking progress of the incident or request.

Customer Responsibility:

To keep their password secure.
To make use of relevant training and information provided by ILS, and the online Help system within Outlook.
To abide by ILS policies.
To report any problems with the service through to the Service Desk.
Compress/zip large attachments before sending them.
Refrain from forwarding large files to multiple users if possible.

To provide the IT Service Desk or any member of ILS staff with their username and contact details for incident logging purposes, and as much detail of any incidents of problems observed, including times and dates when possible.


This service may be subject to the standard Tuesday morning 7am – 9am routine maintenance period.

There are no other restrictions to this service other than eligibility
