The University of Greenwich's Vice Chancellor, Professor David Maguire responds to the Prime Minister's announcement on 19 February 2018 that there will be a two-year review of Post-18 Education and Funding.

In response to the Prime Minister's announcement on 19 February 2018 that there will be a two-year review of Post-18 Education and Funding, the University of Greenwich's Vice Chancellor Professor David Maguire says:

"We agree that there should be regular reviews of higher education funding and welcome this chance to assess the current position. However, we are concerned about any possibility of cuts in university funding as it will damage the university's ability to transform lives and maintain the high-quality student education experience and support services our students need.

"Greenwich is proud that it already provides high quality vocation, technical and professional educations that enables our graduates to develop the skills required by the economy and public services.  It is important that the review recognises the expertise of the universities already leading in this area."

David concluded by saying: "We are encouraged to see a focus for the review is reviving opportunities for part-time and mature students and hope that an innovative solution is found to better incentivise them and match with courses and programmes that fit in with their lifestyles."
