Andrew Woon
Teaching Fellow in Business Studies
Andrew is currently a teaching fellow in the Department of Systems Management and Strategy at the University of Greenwich. Prior to joining the University of Greenwich, he worked as a lecturer at the University of Reading Malaysia.
Andrew’s lecturing background spans from Hospitality Management to broad business studies area including Cross-Cultural Management, Leadership and Organisations, New Business Development, Business Strategy, International Management and Global Marketing. Andrew has been a module lead and module convenor for franchise programmes in Nepal, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
Andrew is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Certified Management & Business Educator by the Chartered Association of Business Schools and a Member of the Chartered Management Institute. Currently, Andrew is pursuing his Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at HELP University Malaysia.
Besides teaching, Andrew is also a columnist for the leading Chinese-language newspaper in Malaysia and a radio commentator for the national Chinese radio station in Malaysia.
Responsibilities within the university
My main roles are to lecture and lead seminars and support learning on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the areas of business across the range of courses offered by the Department of Systems Management and Strategy. In addition, I also supervise, assess and moderate MBA dissertations.
For administrative tasks, I act as a Personal Tutor to students to provide pastoral care to support learning and students’ wellbeing. I am also working with professional services to contribute to the general academic administrative work of the department such as employability support and assessment moderation. In addition, I also support in curriculum review and development within the department.

Research / Scholarly interests
Andrew’s main research interest is in compassion studies. Andrew’s current project is on compassion fatigue, burnout and contributory factors in higher education. In addition, he is also interested in studies related to emerging issues in management as well as pedagogical research in effective teaching and learning.
