Claudia Macaveiu MA, BA, AFHEA

Lecturer in Tourism and Events

Claudia is a Lecturer in the Marketing, Events and Tourism Department with a background in events. She has an MA in International Tourism and Hospitality Management and is currently in the final stages of a Research Degree at Oxford Brookes University. Her research explores Partnership Development and Collaborations against Modern Slavery in the UK Event Sector for which she received a three-year full fee and maintenance award from Oxford Brookes University. She is an Associate Fellow of the HEA and a member of the Sustainable Events Alliance (SEA).

Responsibilities within the university

Claudia is involved in teaching and student supervision across Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programmes, including Events Management (BA Hons), Tourism management (BA Hons), and International Tourism and Hospitality Management (MA).

Research / Scholarly interests

Claudia has a strong interest in researching topics relating to sustainability and human rights issues in event management, tourism, and hospitality – specifically looking at modern slavery and human trafficking risks associated with supply chain management, technology and future of work, interdisciplinary research, and narrative inquiry in academic research.
