Dr Dorottya Sallai has joined the University of Greenwich in September 2014. She completed her PhD in Management at King's College London. She had previously gained an MA in European Studies from the Catholic University of Leuven (BE). In addition, she holds a BA in Marketing and International Management from Avans School of International Studies (NL) as well as a BA in Economics from the College of Management and Business Studies (HU).

Besides her work in academia, Dr Sallai has been a management consultant for more than 10 years. She has been supporting small as well as multinational businesses in the planning and management of their EU-funded projects, has organized and moderated several sector-specific field visits to the European institutions and, as a senior expert, has been involved in international evaluation and research projects on behalf of the European Commission.

In her research Dr Sallai investigates the Europeanization process of corporate lobbying and state-firm relations in the European Union from the perspective of comparative capitalism. Her research interests include:

  • Corporate lobbying and public affairs management

  • Europeanization
  • Networks

Consultancy interests and expertise

Dr Sallai has consulting expertise in the following fields:

  • Ex-ante and ex-post evaluation of EU programmes
  • Qualitative research in international research projects
  • Design and development of evaluation guides for Ex-ante Evaluators
  • Writing and managing EU-funded projects in the fields of: Trans-European Networks (TEN), equal opportunities, gender equality, economic competitiveness, education, infrastructure and SME development

Besides SMEs and multinational companies, Dr Sallai has provided consultancy services to the following institutional clients:

  • Different DGs of the European Commission
  • The European Commission's Representation in Hungary
  • The European Parliament's Representation in Hungary
  • The American Chamber of Commerce in Hungary
  • The British Chamber of Commerce in Hungary
