Senior Lecturer

Angie Campbell is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Greenwich.

Angie qualified as a Registered General Nurse/Registered Sick Children's Nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital and subsequently specialised in Paediatric Intensive Care Nursing. She then became a Paediatric Night Sister at the Evelina Children's Hospital (based at Guy's Hospital), a role that had overall management of the department at night.

After qualifying as a Health Visitor (HV), Angie took many roles within the HV service including that of operational manager and practice educator. She completed an MA degree in child studies at King's College in 2012, her dissertation on childhood obesity as a safeguarding issue.

An interest in safeguarding children developed into a research and development post with the university's Safeguarding Children Board and is a Named Nurse for safeguarding children, performing clinical nursing roles as a Safeguarding Children Advisor.

Angie joined the university in 2014, as senior lecturer across health visiting/school nursing, child branch paramedic, and safeguarding programmes. She is course leader on the Health Visitor/School Nursing Safeguarding Children course and the MSc Safeguarding Children core module, Concepts for Practice. Angie also teaches on child development, health visiting practice, safeguarding supervision and facilitates specialist and bespoke safeguarding children courses commissioned by external agencies.

Angie is currently completing her PGCert Higher Education and hopes to undertake doctoral studies in the future, researching the area of child maltreatment in the context of faith and belief.
