Dr Thomas E Gladwin

Impact Assessment Fellow

Thomas joined the Institute for Lifecourse Development (ILD) as Impact Assessment Fellow in March 2020. His background is a combination of experimental psychology and cognitive neuroscience research, performed at various institutions. As a lecturer, Thomas has led and developed modules on statistics and methodology, biological psychology, and technology for psychology. He have also provided workshops on addiction and on the basics of maths and data analysis.

Responsibilities within the university

In the role of Impact Assessment Fellow, Thomas aims to help assess, document and develop the translation of research into societal impact.

Associate Editor for Addiction Research and Theory.

Regular reviewer for international scientific journals.

Research / Scholarly interests

Thomas' research interests centre on models of cognition-emotion interactions and related clinical applications using neurostimulation and computerized interventions. He is also currently more broadly interested in translating scientific insights and methods to applications outside academia.

Key funded projects

2013: ERAB grant for around 75000 euro (as PI), "More effective change of alcohol-related cognitive biases via enhancement of mediating processes on interventions for alcohol addiction", on interventions for alcohol addiction.

2019: Templeton Foundation grant for $231831 (as co-investigator, PI Ellen Fridland), "Intelligence: Up, Down, and All Around", exploring morality, intelligence and automatic processes.

2020: Internal funding for developing dementia research from the University of Chichester.
