Jon Daveney BEd Hons, MA

Jon Daveney is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education at the University of Greenwich.

Jon trained to be an Early Years and Key Stage 1 teacher at North London University (now London Metropolitan) graduating with a 2.1 Bachelor of Education in 1992.

His career began that same year, teaching across the whole of the Early Years and Primary age-range in the London Borough of Haringey, thereafter in Hackney and then finally in Manchester.

Jon was a Deputy Head Teacher for five years in a Primary school in Hackney, and in 2008 became a Senior Lecturer in Early Years and Primary Education at London Metropolitan University. 

In 2012 he moved to teach at the University of Greenwich, leading the Department in the area of Child Protection and Safeguarding. He is a qualified Safeguarding Officer having completed the NSPCC training and co-ordinates this aspect of provision on the Undergraduate Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) programmes. Jon also manages the Enrichment Placements for Year 2 of the BA Hons Primary Education with QTS.

Jon's teaching interests include: Primary Science, Education Professional Studies and the Philosophy of Education at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. He also link tutors students on placement and supervises undergraduate research projects.
