Aims

The module Live Event Project is intended to equip the student with strategic knowledge, understanding and skills that they will require in order to manage an events project successfully and manage the quality of the event service delivered. The module will enable students to cope with the special demands and problems imposed by events as time-bound projects encompassing numerous critical one-off activities in the preparation and delivery of a new event, exhibition, or performance.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this module a student will be able to:
1 Develop and deliver an original live event
2 Negotiate with suppliers and clients
3 Analyse service delivery and make management recommendations for improvement
4 Critically evaluate different theories and techniques of project management and service delivery

Indicative content

Workshops are based on taking students through the process of organising a live event with time given for working in groups.

Live Event - 30%
LO - 1 and 2.
Pass mark - 50%
Execution of live event including an event pack.

Individual Report - 70%
LO - 3 and 4.
Pass mark - 50%
3,000 words.
Critical and analytical report of planning the service delivery at the live event, demonstrating the application of Quality Management Theory to events practice.
