Early Career Researcher Network

Greenwich Early Career Researcher Network is designed to support, empower and develop our researchers by providing a dedicated space for accessing resources, finding funding and grant opportunities and forums for discussing ECR issues with colleagues. Our focus is to find out what Early Career Researchers need, whether it be training, resources or dialogue and tailor our Network to support those requirements.

What is an ECR?

The University has adopted the following definition for ECRs:-

An early career researcher is defined as a member of staff who are within four years of starting their careers as an independent researcher.

An individual is deemed to have started their career as an independent researcher from the point at which:

i) they have held a contract of employment of 0.2 FTE or greater, on a 'research' or 'teaching and research' contract with an HEI or other organisation, whether in the UK or overseas, and

ii) they have undertaken independent research, leading or acting as principal investigator or equivalent on a research grant or significant piece of research work.
