Information for new students studying at the Greenwich, Avery Hill and Medway campuses on what to do after they have completed online.

During this time all registration will follow our Distance Learning processes.  Please click "Registering Remotely" for more information.  However Greenwich Gateway cards will not available until normal on campus services resume.  

After finishing Online Registration, students studying at our Greenwich, Avery Hill or Medway campus will need to complete the Face to Face Checks and Card Collection steps of registration.

At the Face to Face Checks, the university's registration team will:

  1. Check that your Online Registration is complete
  2. Check you have uploaded a suitable photo for your Greenwich ID card
  3. Take a suitable photo if necessary
  4. Check a suitable and valid form of identity (details below)
  5. Make sure you have sent in suitable copies of your qualifications (details below)
  6. Print and issue you with your Greenwich Gateway card.

Face to Face registration for new students will need to be completed using our Distance Learning Processes until further notice.  Staff will attempting to monitor the necessary email accounts during core hours,  Monday - Friday between 10:00 and 16:00.  


Face to Face Registration normally takes place at our Student Centres on all three Campuses.  But at this time please do not come on to campus to register.

What to Bring


You will need to bring original, valid, in date, authentic identification with you. Please make sure you bring the following:

Student Type Acceptable forms of Identity
Home Student (born in the UK)* Current valid passport OR UK driving licence (where it shows you were born in the UK) OR UK birth certificate
Home Student (non-UK born) Current valid passport OR "Travel Document" with any relevant immigration document (e.g. indefinite leave to remain BRP)
EU National Student Current valid passport OR EU identity card
International Student (Non-EU and Tier 4 visa holders) Current valid passport AND Current Visa

*Students on professional health related degree programmes (nursing, midwifery, speech and language therapy, paramedic science, and social work) must provide a passport as part of the registration checks. This will be checked for authenticity at a pre-registration interview or during the face to face checks and copies stored electronically against the student record.


Evidence of the qualifications used to gain entry onto one of our courses will need to be sent to the university before Face to Face Registration.  These can be scanned to, quoting your full name, student ID number (i.e. 00XXXXXXX) and programme of study in the subject heading.    

For the majority of our undergraduate and professional postgraduate programmes this will include level 2 (e.g. GCSE) qualifications in Mathematics, English (Language) and Science.

If this evidence is not presented in English, then it must be accompanied by a certified translation.  

Additionally, if the entry qualifications are in a different name and were awarded before you legally changed your name, we will also need to see evidence showing your current and previous name (marriage certificate, deed poll).   

The following forms of qualification accepted are:

Original certificates 

Full academic transcript

Official 'Notice of Results' that you may have received from your school or college on results day

Official letter of confirmation of award from the examination board or educational institution

If you are unable to provide the relevant evidence prior to Face to Face Registration, then please bring your documents to the Registration venue when you come in for your Face to Face Checks.   

If you do not provide us with evidence of your qualifications we will not be able to confirm your attendance to the Student Loan Company, Student Finance England or other organisations that require us to confirm your registration.  

Card Collection

When you have completed all the steps of Online Registration and the Face to Face Registration we will issue you with your Greenwich Gateway Card.  The card will be printed and issued to you on campus and will then give you access to the university facilities.

If you were unable to upload a photo during the Online Registration process we will be able to take your photo on the day.

DBS Enhanced Disclosure Certificate and Occupational Health Checks

If you are registering on certain professionally regulated course, you will need to complete an Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check and an occupational health check.  

If you need to complete these checks, we will contact you directly with specific instructions on what you will need to do.  You are advised not to start these checks before we contact you as you may complete the wrong style of check which could delay you starting some aspects of your course (placements) or result in paying for services that are not relevant.
