If you eat, sleep and breathe sport, our unique, interactive degree will help you pursue your passion.

Our degree includes hands-on, practical sport courses which will allow you to flourish in your chosen specialism whether your area is dance, gymnastics, athletics, swimming or games.

We have excellent sporting facilities to support your training, these include an indoor Airdome (astroturf), sports hall, and a specialist dance studio.

As part of your degree you will have the opportunity to complete a sport-related work placement so you can put into practice the skills and experience you'll be learning during your time with us.

Our degree provides not only activity based training but vital theoretical courses. Here you will discover the principles of teaching and coaching with courses related to sport policy, practice and development. You will also examine the scientific, psychological and sociological aspects of the subject.

With a sports focus, we help you develop key transferable skills such as team work, problem solving, self-assessment, IT and maths. Research skills are developed in each year leading to a supervised Independent Study course in the final year.

Entry requirements

Applicants from a UK educational background:

104 UCAS tariff points from A-levels, of which no more than 12 UCAS tariff points should come from AS-levels.

We also accept:

  • BTEC/National Diploma
  • International Baccalaureate
  • Advanced and Progression Diplomas
  • Access courses.

Plus at least three GCSEs including English language with a minimum of grade C or recognised equivalent are required.

Applicants from a non-UK educational background:

International applicants will need to show qualifications equivalent to those required for UK student entry requirements. Further to this, applicants must have successfully completed 11 or 12 years of full time education (usually equivalent to GCSE grade C). 

If you were educated in a language other than English and/or in a country where English speakers are in a minority, you should have a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each skill) or equivalent. If you require a Tier 4 (General) student visa to study in the UK, your score must be from a UK Visas and Immigration approved IELTS test.

Dedicated courses in Year 1 and Year 3 prepare students to enhance their employability for PE and sport-related careers and work placement opportunities are built into each year of the programme. Graduates are equipped to work in a variety of roles within PE and Sport such as teaching (via a PGCE programme leading to Qualified Teacher Status), coaching, sport development and sports promotion.
