This Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship aims to develop your technology skills together with the project management, interpersonal and business skills required to operate successfully as an IT professional. You are expected to have a job with your employer that allows you to develop the knowledge you acquire at University in the workplace. The aim is to integrate academic learning and on-the-job practical training to ensure that you graduate with the experience that employers need, now and in the future.

The aim of the programme is to produce IT Professionals who are capable of making a real contribution to their employer within a few months of commencing their roles.

The programme is mapped to the Digital Industries – Digital and Technology Solutions Professional Standards.

The Degree Apprenticeship will equip students with the key IT Professional skills and knowledge to produce employees with:

  • Competence in technology solutions to form a solid foundation for further development
  • Real workplace learning pedagogy in order to develop the competences required by employers
  • Personal and interpersonal competence to engage effectively with staff all levels in the organisation
  • Problem-solving and modelling skills appropriate to developing technology solutions for business
  • Overview of business operations, procedures and culture applicable to a sustainable career as an IT professional
  • Practical skills in a chosen area of IT occupational competence relevant to current and future roles
  • Minimum of three years applied occupational experience in a technology solutions environment.
  • Critical understanding of the theoretical, conceptual and practical issues central to the practice of developing, implementing and maintaining technology solutions.

What you'll study

Entry requirements

Students must be employed by a sponsoring organisation. Programme-specific entry requirements apply, as agreed with the sponsoring organisation. For example:

  • Three A levels (subjects may be specified by employers)
  • Some employers accept other relevant qualifications or experience including progression from an appropriate Level 3 Apprenticeship Programme
  • GCSE A*-C pass (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics is required;
  • Evidence will also be considered if applicants demonstrate experience gained from voluntary activities;

Assessment

Multiple assessment methods are adopted within the programme including, coursework, evaluation studies, mini tests, study reports, examinations, and presentations.
