Aims

This module helps students develop as independent and self-directed learners. It supports students’ transitions into university life by developing their academic skills and by increasing their understanding of their own well-being. Further, it introduces essential employability skills.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this Module a student will be able to:

1. Plan, organise and structure academic and reflective work.
2. Develop written and verbal communications that are well-argued, coherent, accurate, grammatically sound and correctly referenced.
3. Identify personal strengths and weaknesses, and develop responsive strategies using opportunities and support at university (e.g. including entrepreneurial competitions, GEP, PG study, student societies and welfare resources).
4. Develop soft skills to enhance employability.
