Pre and co requisites

Completion of Stage 2 (Level 5) of a Business Faculty BA or BSc programme

The course is the shell for the one year placement, which is available to all Business Faculty students who have completed Stage 2 (L5) of their undergraduate degree programme. It aims to give students experience of graduate level employment and to allow them to reflect upon and synthesise their learning from the experience of working in such a role.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course a student will be able to:

1 Understand the nature and challenges of graduate employment and reflect upon their preparedness for such employment.
2 Critically analyse the skills, attributes and competencies required to gain and be successful in graduate employment.
3 Reflect on their own performance, strengths, weaknesses and capabilities and develop strategies for developing positives and overcoming negatives.
4 Synthesise an understanding of the nature of organisations, their structures, processes and systems.

Indicative content

Students undertake a placement for a minimum of 9 months. They can undertake more than one placement provided that one of them has a duration of at least 6 months.
