Aims

• This course aims to build upon the experiences gained during Year 1 and School Experience 1 by examining the role of the teacher as a professional within the whole school context.
• This course will develop the link between educational theory and practice
• This course will develop an understanding of pedagogy

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course a student will be able to:

1 Develop the an understanding of a range of approaches that informs pedagogy (TS 2, TS 4 & TS 5)

2 Recognize the ways in which children’s learning can be affected by their physical, social, and intellectual development and the role of the teacher in relation to this (TS 1, TS 2 & TS 5)

3 Develop the practical skills of planning and assessment, behaviour management and adult deployment in preparation for a school experience (TS 4, TS 5, TS 6, TS 7 & TS 8)

4 Develop the ability to critique the role and purpose of primary education (TS 3 & TS Part 2)

5 Select and synthesize from a range of literature to be up to date with current thinking in related pedagogical areas (TS 3)

6 Become confident as a practitioner during a school experience
