Applying for a postgraduate course

There are several ways to apply for a postgraduate course here at Greenwich and this will depend on the course you wish to study. Find out how to make your postgraduate application.

Applying direct to the University of Greenwich

For most of our postgraduate courses you can apply directly to us, via the online application form. However, for some courses you must apply through a different route.

Frequently asked questions

When should I apply?

For Home fee paying students we recommend you apply at least 3 months prior to enrolment, and if you’re an international student we recommend applying at least 6 months prior to enrolment to give yourself enough time to organise your VISA. The application cycle does vary for teacher training programmes depending upon the provider see Get into Teaching to find out more. MA Social work and MSc Nursing follow UCAS deadlines.

Application deadlines

Deadlines to apply can vary by course for Teaching courses see Get into Teaching. For MA Social work & MSc Nursing application are made through UCAS and follow UCAS deadlines. For our other programmes we close our courses once they are at full capacity, so we recommend applying as soon as possible.

Application fees (including UCAS routes)

If you’re applying for a postgraduate programme through UCAS then the application fee is £34.50. If you apply directly to Greenwich there is no application fee.

Personal statement

The personal statement (3,950 characters) is an important opportunity for you to demonstrate your commitment to study by commenting on factors that have not been referred to elsewhere on the application form.  Admissions Tutors will be interested in your reasons for applying to study on your chosen programme, your relevant experience, career aspirations and what you hope to achieve from your studies.  You should also include information about any hobbies or activities (paid or unpaid) that you have undertaken that are relevant to your application.

Documents required

If your qualifications are obtained by a Non UK awarding body, you must upload an official academic transcript and qualification certificate. All documents must be provided in English or accompanied by a certified English translation. Applications who require a student visa and are from a non-majority speaking English language country must provide evidence of English language proficiency.

How long do decisions take?

Application processing times vary by course and the volume of applications received. While many applicants receive a decision within four weeks of submitting a complete application, some applications may take longer where additional information, supporting documents, further academic review is required, or during particularly busy periods. To help avoid delays, please read the entry requirements carefully and ensure all required supporting documents are submitted with your application. We will contact you if we need any further information to support our assessment.

Where can I get further guidance?

We recommend attending one of our events which run both on campus and virtually where we will have staff available to support you. Alternatively, you can get in touch via phone or our contact form.

I’m interested in an MRES qualification. How do I apply?

If you're interested in an MRES qualification then we ask that you apply via our online application form.
