Key details

Dr Munazzah Iqbal

Teaching Fellow in Business Management

I earned my PhD in Business and Social Sciences at Aston University, Birmingham. Prior to pursuing my doctorate, I achieved an MBA degree in Global Business from Coventry University London in 2017, where I excelled as a high achiever, receiving a Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership from Chartered Management Institute. Alongside PhD, I also attained a Postgraduate Certificate in Social Sciences.

Before joining the University of Greenwich as a teaching fellow, I was a business lecturer at a higher education institution for over a year in London and Birmingham, and moderated modules at Aston University. During my time at Aston, I achieved the recognition as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and I was awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education as well. My passion lies in enhancing the student learning experience, firmly believing that the drive to learn initiates a more enjoyable and rewarding learning process.

As a researcher, my interest is captivated by the dynamics of teamwork and how individuals perceive diversity among their team members, particularly at a deeper level. This interest extends to understanding how deep-level diversity shapes collective fairness perceptions. To support managers in effectively addressing fairness issues within their teams, it is imperative to comprehend the processes that lead to the formation of justice climates. The growing diversity in workplaces poses challenges to inclusivity, with fairness perceptions and the accompanying leadership playing pivotal roles.

In my research, I have delved into the team-level effects of deep-level diversity on fairness perceptions, the sense-making process, ethical leadership, diversity management practices, performance, and cohesion. To ensure comprehensive results, I adopted a multi-method approach and conducted studies among diverse populations, involving employees and managers working in teams in organizations, within the Middle Eastern context.
