Senior Lecturer

Jessica comes from the Events Industry in Canada and the United Kingdom where she worked primarily in public sector venues and luxury hotels. Trained as an Opera Singer, Jessica has also worked in arts management to develop classical music concert series and has worked on a number of cultural festivals in Toronto including events for International Women's Day, Nuit Blanche, and city-wide food festivals. After holding the position of Events Manager for the University of Greenwich for a number of years, Jessica progressed from being a guest lecturer and then a visiting lecturer on the BA and MA in Events Management at the University, to a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Marketing, Events and Tourism Management.

Responsibilities within the university

Jessica is a Senior Lecturer and a PhD student in the Department of Marketing, Events and Tourism Management where she teaches across a broad cross-section of BA in Events Management and Hospitality Management modules. She has developed courses on event venue management, corporate events, sponsorship, principles of hospitality management and an introduction to the events industry.

Jessica has received a number of awards for her teaching, including the top teaching prize for the University in 2017 for Excellence in Education. In the same year, she was awarded the Business Faculty and University-wide prize for Outstanding Contribution to the Student Experience. At the Student Led Teaching Awards in that year, she was shortlisted for the Inspirational Teaching Award for her Faculty and runner-up for Supervisor of the Year for her supervision of undergraduate dissertations. In 2018, she was nominated for the Extra Mile Award and Shortlisted for the Faculty Star Award at the Student Led Teaching Awards.
