Dr Victor Newman BA, M.Ed., PGCE, PhD.

Professor

Professor Victor Newman is Industrial Fellow at the Executive Business Centre, Business School, leader of the Executive MBA consulting module @ The University of Greenwich. Member of KSSAHSN (Kent Surrey Sussex Academic Health Science Networks) Innovation Board, Visiting Fellow to Cranfield University and mentor to the Social Innovation Lab, Kent.

Co-developer of Research Impact methodologies with Professor Paul Phillips of Kent Business School (impactofimpact.com). Victor has been strongly influenced by innovation leadership experiences including commercial consulting, former Head of Innovation Strategy & Economics at InnovateUK, and Chief Learning Officer, Pfizer Global Research University.

Contributed to the Harvard Business Review, included in Harvard’s “Fifty Lessons” interviews (now available via Skillsoft), and featured in The Wall Street Journal.

Victor has an extensive publication profile featuring 295 journal articles, books, book chapters and official reports. He has a strong repertoire in heuristics, strategic knowledge management, process leadership, innovation and engagement leadership.  Recent publications: include “Recycling Behavioural Waste” , “Reality-Driven Leadership” both with Graham Williams, Biddles 2016, 2017 and “Management Consultancy through an Academic and Practitioner Perspective”, 2019.

Victor is co-author of “The Research Impact Strategy Playbook”: a short, simple practical prototype playbook introducing potential practitioners to essential tactical and strategic methods available via Amazon.co.uk

Responsibilities within the university

    Co-design of, and contributor to EPC staff development programme 2023-4; innovation leadership adviser to EPC industrial research and education programmes. Former module leader Executive MBA consulting module.

Recognition

Victor has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, contributed to the Harvard Business Review, and is on the Advisory Board for several organisations. He is the author of Made to Measure Problem Solving and his Knowledge Activist’s Handbook from Capstone/ Wiley & Sons has been cited as the “best management book within the last ten years”. Included in Harvard’s “Fifty Lessons” interviews with 200 of the world’s most respected business leaders (now available via Skillsoft).
