Dr Julia Rudolph joined the Institute of Lifecourse Development as a Research Fellow in June 2022 and is affiliated with the Centre for Vulnerable Children and Families and the Centre for Thinking and Learning.

Julia obtained her PhD in Applied Psychology (Child Sexual Abuse Prevention) at Griffith University in Australia. Post-PhD she worked on several grants examining adolescent rejection sensitivity, body dysmorphic symptomology and bullying, and parenting.

In 2020 Julia was awarded a prestigious Griffith University Post-Doctoral Fellowship, worth over AU$265,000, to develop and pilot the Parents as Protectors Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Module. In 2021 she was awarded a further $60,000 towards the module development.

Julia's research interests lie in examining the influence of parenting on child outcomes with particular focus on sexual abuse prevention. Her PhD and post-doctoral research projects have focused on rethinking the focus of child sexual abuse prevention to involve parents as protectors, rather than educators, via the creation of safe environments and positive parenting.
