Education Research Group

The strategy of the Education Research group is to undertake high quality research and enterprise that includes as many staff as possible, supports research activity and promotes research excellence.

This research group is led by Professor Jill Jameson , with Dr Gordon Ade-Ojo as Deputy Leader. The group is formed from more than thirty colleagues in three departments within the Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences;

  1. Department of Education and Community Studies
  2. Department of Primary Education
  3. Department of Secondary Education, Lifelong Learning, PE and Sport.

The strategy of the Education Research group is to undertake high quality research and enterprise that includes as many staff as possible, supports research activity and promotes research excellence. All members of the group are research active.

The group meets regularly to share work, peer review and contribute to the development of the Faculty and University research and enterprise strategy.They also contribture to funded and informal research across the following three research centres:

 With particular expertise and activity in the following subject areas:

  • The development of excellence in literacy education in schools and colleges
  • Leadership, management, trust and enterprise in education
  • Post-compulsory, higher and further education
  • Educational technology and technology enhanced learning
  • Play, recreation, early years, the history of childhood and youth studies in education
  • Complexity theory, teacher research and continuing professional development
