What to expect at an Open Day?
Choosing university is an important decision, and visiting in person (or virtually) is an essential part of your journey. An Open Day is the best way to discover whether Greenwich is right for you.
What to expect at an Open Day?
You’ll be able to build your own Open Day schedule by selecting which sessions you’d like to attend. Sessions at our open days vary by subject but typically include:
- Subject talks and interactive sessions with Lecturers
- Information, Advice and Guidance talks on fees, funding and how to apply
- Student life panel where you’ll hear firsthand from Greenwich students
- Support stands where you can chat with teams such as admissions, accommodation, and wellbeing.
- Guided tours of our campus and accommodation
Our in-person Open Days run from 10am to 3pm across our three campuses.
Book your place and we’ll let you know which campus to visit based on the course you’re interested in. You’re welcome to bring guests with you and they can attend without booking. Parents or supporters who’d like to hear more from the University of Greenwich can sign up to our mailing list.
When you arrive, look out for our student ambassadors in bright-blue T-shirts (or navy fleeces if it’s a cold day). They’ll be on hand to answer questions and help you find your way around campus.
Choosing a university is about more than just finding the right course. It's also important to get a feel for the area you'll be living and studying in. After your Open Day, why not explore the local area? We've put together a list of things to do near each of our campuses. If you’re interested in a Masters or research degree then book onto one of our dedicated Postgraduate Open Evenings. You’ll have the opportunity to explore your options, meet academics, and get advice on applications, funding and postgraduate life at Greenwich.
If you can’t make it to campus then you can also join one of our virtual open days. At these event you’ll be able to attend live sessions on our courses, funding your studies and how to apply. You’ll get a feel for Greenwich through our virtual tours of our campuses and accommodation. You'll also have access to on-demand subject content, allowing you to explore the sessions at a time and place that suits you.

Help with travel costs
We strive to make our Open Days as accessible as possible. If travelling to campus would pose a financial challenge, you may be eligible for support with your travel costs, up to £50.

Open Day FAQs
Which campus should I go to?
Once booked your place in the confirmation email, we’ll let you know which campus to visit based on the course you’re interested in. We have three campuses across London and Kent, so be sure to check your email before setting off.
How can I access the schedule for the day?
Ahead of the Open Day we’ll email you a full schedule of the day, you should take some time to plan out your day and check the locations of your sessions.
Our campuses are big and it may take 10 minutes to get between buildings.
Can I look at student accommodation?
Yes, you can view our halls of residence and talk to the accommodation team about costs and contracts. We also run guided campus tours, usually by current students, so you will get the most up to date helpful information about where you’ll be living.
Can I get support with my application?
Yes, our admissions and application support staff will be there to help. They will be able to advise on entry requirements, personal statements and key deadlines.
Can I get advice about Student Finance, Scholarships and bursaries?
Our Fees and Funding team will be available to answer your questions. You can also find useful information about student finance on our dedicated webpage.
Is there parking available?
You can park at our Avery Hill or Medway campuses for free.
If you’re visiting the Greenwich campus you can park and ride using our free inter-campus bus from Avery Hill or Medway campus.
Due to space limitations at our Greenwich Campus, there is no on-site parking available for Open Day attendees. Public pay and display car parks can be found nearby.

Greenwich
Greenwich Campus sits on a World Heritage Site on the banks of the River Thames with excellent transport links providing a 10-minute train journey to Central London.

Avery Hill
Set in 86 acres of beautiful parkland, our Avery Hill campus is a green, relaxed student village giving you a safe, close-knit community vibe while still being in London. Excellent transport links provide a 19-minute train journey to Central London.
- New Eltham and Falconwood (approx. 15 min walk)
- TFL buses frequently run nearby (162, 286, 132, 624, 660)
- Parking on campus.

Medway
On the site of a former Royal Navy base, our beautiful redbrick Medway campus has great links with a 40-minute train journey to Central London.
