University of Greenwich recognised as Stonewall Trailblazer

The University of Greenwich has been accredited as a Trailblazer organisation as a part of the Stonewall Proud Employers programme.

The Stonewall Proud Employers Accreditation is a benchmarking and accreditation tool that organisations use to assess and improve LGBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace.

It's designed to support employers to foster safe and inclusive work environments where everyone can thrive.

The Stonewall Proud Employers Accreditation has four levels of accreditation that are designed to provide clear benchmarking and a structure for progression.

The Trailblazer category is the highest accreditation level available and is defined as:

“You’re demonstrating leadership at its finest. You are at the forefront of change, with exceptional commitment and results that are inspiring others.”

Oyebanji Adewumi, Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Greenwich said:

“With thanks to all members of our Stonewall Steering Group, co-chairs and members of the LGBTQ+ Staff Community, this has been team work at its finest.

“It is rewarding therefore for us to achieve the top level of accreditation.

“I am confident that the University’s commitment to our values will continue to be built upon as we make a positive impact on the lives of our staff, students and the wider university community.”

Professor Jane Harrington, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of the University of Greenwich said:

“This accomplishment is something our entire university community should be proud of.

“We are deeply committed to fostering an inclusive environment and ensuring that everyone feels they belong at Greenwich. It’s wonderful to see external recognition of the culture we’ve worked hard to build.

“This achievement is a reflection of the dedication and efforts of so many people across Greenwich, I thank and congratulate them all.”
