Centre for Science and Medicine in Sport and Exercise

This research centre has specialist expertise in three main areas; clinical exercise science, analysis of human performance and sport and exercise nutrition. The academic personnel who comprise the research centre have a wealth of research expertise and experience in relation to sport, exercise and coaching science, where 'sport' typically relates to human performance, 'exercise' relates to health and well-being and 'coaching' relates to training and development of people or teams towards a specific goal. There is an established history of high quality published research, international conference presentations and sizeable external grant funding within these areas of research. There are approximately 10-12 research active scientists and several PhD students, within the research centre. In addition to research, in its traditional sense, research scientists within the centre also engage in a wealth of knowledge exchange and consultancy activities for local and national organisations.
