Study your passion. Shape your future: Charlie

TLDRoffon

Charlie: Wordsmith and video gamer

We recently spoke to Greenwich BA (Hons) Creative Writing student Charlie about why he’d chosen to study creative writing and what his ambitions were.

Creativity and imagination

“An imaginative person who loves stories in books, videogames, film and more, I love coming up with ideas that I would love to get out into the world” is how Charlie describes himself and his passion for crafting stories. It is perhaps a given that, in his spare time, he writes children’s stories and has a fan fiction page.

As well as allowing Charlie to explore his passion, he felt his choice of course would enhance his skills in a range of areas. Clearly enjoying his course, he singles out one particular area - “If I had to choose a favourite module* - well I can't choose them all! - but I probably would have to say Poetry*”. He’s really pleased that he’s been introduced to poetry as it’s now likely to be the focus of a university project for him.

Charlie also clearly loves the overall experience of studying at Greenwich. “The student life at Greenwich is absolutely amazing” he says and goes on to add “the people are so nice here and it's just a beautiful part of London... an absolutely amazing place. The environments are gorgeous, including the views… and it's one of my favourite parts of London”.

The future

“I have many aspirations” he says and, having arranged and undertaken, a Civil Service internship in the summer of 2021 he thinks that might be a possible career path. He can also see himself as an editor. At present, however, Charlie’s focus is very much on his course “…that's what I'm really excited about, just seeing what happens in the future.”

Wherever Charlie’s path leads, we look forward to following his journey.
